I have only just learned of Mort’s passing, so I offer this very belated message. I knew Mort when we were both active in the ABA Tax Section. He was an incredibly kind man and one of great integrity. His presence was a blessing in every gathering. The world was better for his passage through it. 

We will remember Mort most fondly and as a model grandparent, scholar, businessman and true gentleman.    We carry his compassion, gentleness and kindness as a guide as parents and citizens. It was an honor and a blessing to know him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

So sad to hear of the loss of such a wonderful man.  Morton has been our guide through business, taxes and preparing our estate.  He and my husband were the same age which we discussed every time we were in Morton's office.  Blessings on each of you in the family.  He was a brilliant man and a good friend.

Morton was a 1 of a kind person. He left a path of friend and collegues wherever he went.  In reading some of the testaments to Morton, everything that is said is so true.  He was "one of the great ones". It was my honor to know Morton and be, not only a family member, but a friend.

Unfortunately Susan and Craig live too far away and I have become a patient at Vanderbilt and was waiting for an appt.  I heard our Dad, R Duke Miller, was mentioned in the funeral. That means so much to us, they were very good friends and he was a huge help to our whole family.  After my Dad died in march I always felt I could lean on Morton like another father.  He was also one of the smartest people I know!  Judye, I am so sad for you cause Morton was a wonderful man and he loved you so much, you could see it! Ralph and I will be spending lots of time in Nashville at Vanderbilt so we hope to meet your son and his family.

This is such sad news. I saw Mort every June at the Georgia Federal Tax conference, where he always gave this son of a Yankee lawyer-friend of his a warm and genuine welcome and treated me with utmost kindness and respect. It was a special treat to see him and share a few stolen moments. I will sorely miss him.

Tracy - my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.  I met your father in the summer of 1978 when I was an intern in Congressman Brinkley's DC office.  He was a wonderful spirit.

Dear Judye---Morton and I have been friends since our younger lawyer days, members of the young lawyers club of Columbus.  Our goals were high, and we were willing to go the second mile in pursuit of justice. Perhaps Morton saved his greatest contribution to the last in his treatise on disparity of economic resources in our country. I have spoken of it right and left and suggesting that what the United States needs is the leadership of men like him, brilliant, thoughtful, and kind.  The publication of the treatise could change the course of this nation.  At least, good seed would be planted.  Please accept our condolences together with our respect and admiration for this wonderful citizen and friend.

The words of Mr. Harris' eldest daughter, Wendy Greenberg, are still ringing in my ears right now: "I was always proud to be introduced as his daughter; I was even more proud of the husband he was to my mother."

Your Dad was such a nice, respected, and as you know very smart man. When he spoke you listened.  My sincerest condolences to all of you during this time.  In the last couple years Tracy your dad heard I had retired from Aflac, well from then on we had a connection, YOU! May all your cherished memories bring you great comfort during this sadness.  Mr. Morton will be remembered as the legacy he has left will live on forever.  God bless you friend.

My sincere condolences to the family. I remember him fondly from interviewing him for an article I did on him for the Ledger's "Northland Neighbor" in 2008. He was so pleasant to work with. I saw him again at a One Columbus dinner. May your wonderful, warm, happy, memories, and God's comfort sustain you at this time.

Morton was a wonderful friend and an incredibly gifted and special individual. His advice, counsel and wisdom was profound and touched so very many in special ways. He was caring and kind and generous. He leaves an indelible positive impact on so very many. Our deepest sympathies are extended to the entire family.
