Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Striffler- Hamby Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mrs. Cason was born January 1, 1940, in Graceville, FL daughter of the late Samuel B. Watford and Maude Taylor Watford. She worked for over 20 years at Bibb Mill in the spinning room. After her retirement, she served for 20 years as a crossing guard with the Muscogee County School District at Fox Elementary School, River Road Elementary School, and Johnson Elementary School.
Nell was a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a strong believer in the power of prayer, and she devoted many hours of her free time serving in the Prayer Room. She also served joyfully as a Meals on Wheels volunteer every week. She loved her church and her family.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Cason; her son, Michael Cason; her brothers, Ralph Watford, Carl Watford, Paul Watford; and her sisters, Anne Avary and Pearl Posey.
Survivors include her sons Bobby Cason (Kim) of Glennville, GA, and Phillip Cason (Kim) of Fortson, GA, four grandchildren, Chandler, Gavin, Ben, and Matthew Cason, and one great-grandchild, Cecily Cason.
