Pedro Lacerda August 11, 1979 - May 29, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — SSG Pedro Lacerda, age 30, resident of Columbus, died on May 29, 2010 at Columbus Medical Center. Memorial services with full military honors are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Friday, June 4, 2010, 11 a.m. with Chaplain (CPT) Charles Estanol officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. SSG Lacerda, son of Pedro Paulo Da Vinha Lacerda and the late Lucia Brandao, was born August 11, 1979 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He was Catholic by faith and a member of Gracie Barra and Barra Brothers. SSG Lacerda was active duty U.S. Army, serving his country honorably for over five years. He was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning and received many decorations for service to his country to include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Army Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab. SSG Lacerda was also preceded in death by his mother and maternal grandmother. He is survived by his wife, Marina; daughter, Yasmin; son, Pepe; father, Pedro Paulo Da Vinha; sister, Tatiana; brother, Marcelo; other relatives and friends.
