Peggy Mildred Hinson, 84, peacefully passed away April 4, 2021 following a brief illness. Peggy was a high school graduate of Brenau Academy in Gainesville, Georgia, and attended Auburn University where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education, she began a 35-year career in education and administration with the Muscogee County School District. Peggy later received her masters degree from Georgia State University, while teaching at both Daniel and Rothschild Junior High Schools. She adored her students and the feeling was certainly mutual. Peggy also spent time working in the family business, Hinson Galleries, in Columbus. After her retirement in education, she served a two-year term on the Muscogee County Board of Education.
Her keen wit and humor followed her throughout her life, and her love of Boston Bulldogs and Tennessee Walking Horses were always ever present.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, R. LeGrand Hinson, Sr. and Mildred Keever Hinson, and survived by her brother, Robert LeGrand Hinson, Jr. of Columbus. She is also survived by her dear friend and loving caregiver, Robin Buntin, also of Columbus.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Charles Hasty, Jr. of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, please choose a charity of your choice.
A reception in Mrs. Hinson’s honor will be held in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary immediately follow the service.
