

Phyllis Marie Deslauriers, of Upatoi, GA died at The Columbus Regional Medical Center, of Columbus, GA, on Saturday, August 7, 2010 after a long and valiant struggle against Lukemic Cancer surrounded by her family and close friends.
Mrs. Deslauriers was born June 20, 1944 in Waterbury, CT, daughter of the late Francis Greco, owner of Frank’s Variety Store and Jennie Tortorici Greco. She graduated from Crosby High School, and was also a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing both of Waterbury.
Mrs. Deslauriers, began her nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital where she worked fro 18 years prior to her family relocating to Upatoi, GA. In Georgia she was employed by various private medical practices in the Columbus area as the office nurse including those of Dr. James Ward, Dr. Ruthanne Reese and Dr. William Simpson.
Her life’s mission was to be an active supporter of the St. Anne Parish and it’s Community where she served as a member of the Parish Council, a member of the St. Anne Pacelli School Committee, Eucharistic Minister, President of St. Anne Council of Catholic Women fro several terms, and was a founding member of the Stewardship Program of the Church. Mrs. Deslauriers was also a founding member and active Supporter of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 1019, where she has served as President for over 10 years.
She was also and active member of the Diocese of Savannah, GA. She held various officer level positions with the Council of Catholic Women at the Columbus Deanery Level and Diocesan Level. In 2002 she was recognized with the Bishop Gartland Service Award by the Diocese of Savannah for her service to her beloved Parish.
Mrs. Deslauriers is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 44 years, Robert N. Deslauriers Sr. of Upatoi, GA; Son Robert N. Deslauriers Jr. and his wife Karen L. Deslauriers and the prides of her life, her two Grandchildren Alyssa M. Deslauriers and Ryan A. Deslauriers all of North Smithfield, RI., as well as several nieces, nephews and her Sisters and Brothers in Spirit from St. Anne Parish.
A memorial funeral mass will be said at 10:00AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Gerard Schreck officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The rosary will be said fro Phyllis followed by visitation on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 6:00PM to 8:00PM at St. Anne Catholic Church. A memorial will be held at a later date in Waterbury, CT.
