Rachel June Cheney, age 88, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 27th, 2022. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
She was known to everyone as June and was born January 11, 1934. She was born and raised in Columbus and graduated from Baker High School. She worked in manufacturing at Continental Can Co., Union Carbide and retired from Kemet Electronics.
June loved life and had a giving heart. She was always the first one there if you ever needed help. She loved to cook, read, and crochet. She loved her time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Included in her family were her loving companion Toto and Gizmo. Her view on life was to never give unwanted advice and always be there to listen.
June will be sorely missed but we can have comfort in knowing she is at home with our Lord Jesus Christ.
June is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank R. Collins and second husband, Ralph “Bo” Cheney and daughter, Vickie Tinker. Survivors include daughters, Tracy Bullard (husband Hugh Bullard), Kathy Lockhart (husband Greg Lockhart); son, Kevin Collins (wife Jacque Collins); stepsons, Rusty Cheney (wife Joann Cheney) and John Cheney; stepdaughter, Susan Mitchell (husband Fred Mitchell); eleven grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
