Richard "Benny" Alton Hines

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Bethesda Baptist Church, 3830 GA Hwy 85, Ellerslie, Georgia, with Reverend David Helms officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm in the church. Interment with full military honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia.

Mr. Hines was born January 3, 1932 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee to the late James Albert Hines and Alta Mae Ellis Hines, both from Bethel Springs, Tennessee. He served our country honorably in the United States Army during the end of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War; retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer, CW-4. Following his military career, he retired with a total of 70 years of service, both military and civilian.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Burks.

He is survived by his loving wife, (Sissy) Sharon Elizabeth Hines; sister, Fay Mitchel; brother, Doug Hines; six children, Rhonda Shewell, Richard Hines Jr., Robert Hines, Robin Ann Jones, Bryan Dover and Derrick Dover. He also leaves 52 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
