

Robert “Bob” Franklin Applewhite, age 64, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 of an extended illness for the last 2 years. Born January 24, 1960 in West Point, Mississippi, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Annie L. (Langley) Applewhite.
Bob was very mechanically inclined. He enjoyed working on cars and his bike. He had a great dry sense of humor, loved to discuss world politics and current events. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a BA in Business Administration. He had various pets during his life and thus had a strong love of animals. He had an extraordinary memory and intellect. Bob was a compassionate friend to many people during his life. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point, Mississippi.
Survivors include his siblings, John Thomas Applewhite Jr., Martha (Applewhite) Carr, and Cathy (Applewhite) Johnson; nephews, Thomas Harold Johnson and Kristofer Alan Hughes; and great- nephews, Avery Hughes, Ayrington Hughes, and Christian Jacob Johnson. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mattie Pearl Meeks; and his maternal grandmother, Ella Langley.
A Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Highway 45 North, Left on Cromwell Street on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00AM. Pastor Dale Funderberg will be officiating service.
