Rosa Mae Ray, age 90, of Salem, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. A visitation for Rosa will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m., and burial will be at Parkhill Cemetery.
Rosa was born November 29, 1929 in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of Elex Addison and Ida Reeves Addison. She worked in the Jordan Mill as a winder for many years. She was a great dancer and would often win Jitterbug contests. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She hosted luaus and Halloween parties, however Christmas was her favorite, and she loved to decorate the house. Rosa also enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, and sewing. She loved her family dearly and strived to make sure they were taken care of and that they knew she loved them. She enjoyed baking, and often a fresh baked treat would await her children when they came home from school.
Rosa was preceded in death by her son, Tony Chumney, and her parents, Elex Addison and Ida Reeves. Rosa Ray is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Kelly, Joyce (William) Chumney and Marie Frith; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
