Sandra was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Ira and Tina Mae Hursey. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1956 and then received her nursing degree from Columbus College. Sandra was the director of labor and delivery at The Medical Center for many years and worked with the Columbus Health Department.
Sandra married the love of her life, Dr. Sidney H. Levine in August 1961. They had one son, Alan Keith Levine. She was an active member of Cascade Hills Church until her health starting failing but she stayed strong in her faith regardless. She loved gardening, flowers, watching the birds from the kitchen window. As a child, Sandra played the violin, she was an artist and loved painting. She and Sid loved spending time together, they enjoyed dancing and entertaining friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her son Alan Keith Levine, sisters Dell Weir and Mary Ann Brazil, and brother William Hursey. She is survived by her husband & soulmate of 64 years, Sidney Levine. Her sister-in-law Katherine Hursey of Columbus GA, brother in law Dennis Levine of New London, CT, her dear cousin Marjorie Spurlin of Columbus GA, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Also apart of survivors are her loving caregivers Versaline Hoskins, Janet Morgan and Michelle Wilburn, and her devoted friend Toni Cash.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, July 14th at 1:30 PM and a celebration of life funeral service at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, in Fisher Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia with the burial following at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31097.
