Sara N. Hannen of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on November 10, 2023 at the age of 95. Sara was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on May 27, 1928, to the late Dora (Wilson) and Earnest and Gray. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years Raymond E. Hannen; Brothers William Gray and Harold Gray; Sister, Genella Lett; and Grandson, Joseph Ferguson.
Sara was the adored family storyteller. She loved cooking, baking, fishing, camping, and beach trips. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog football and Atlanta Braves fan. Sara was a devoted Army wife, homemaker, and mother. She was previously employed by the State of Alabama and Camp Concrete Company.
Her memory will be treasured by her daughters, Donna Allen (John) of Midland, Georgia, Beth Ferguson (Kevin) of Pine Mountain Valley, Georgia, and Pamela Johnson (Todd) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; Bonus daughter-niece Patsy Butler; Grandchildren, Amy Settles (Jon), J. David Allen (Danielle), Justin Ferguson, Bryce Johnson, and Kayla Burton (Casey); Great-Grandchildren, Sara Settles, Kaylee Ferguson, Dane Ferguson, Elijah Allen, and Madelyn Allen; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A visitation will be held one hour prior at 10:00 AM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbus Hospice House.
