A private family graveside service will be held in Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
Sherrell was born July 7, 1936 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Otis and Bessie Skinner. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sherrell and Mac loved traveling and the beach and enjoyed many years living in Laguna Beach, FL where they delighted in entertaining family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Thomas, and her husband, Steve, of Columbus; her son, Greg McLendon, and his wife, Irene, of Smiths Station, AL; two sisters, Loette Vann and her husband, Bobby, of Columbus, GA and Jacque Childs and her husband, Ronnie, of Pine Mountain, GA; five grandchildren, Lindsay Pilcher and her husband, Will, of Milledgeville, GA, Jason Johnson and his wife, Brittany, of Auburn, AL, Ryan McLendon and his wife, Heather, of Smiths Station, AL, Joshua McLendon of Smiths Station, AL, David Thomas of Columbus, GA; and one great-grandchild, Simon McLendon, also of Smiths Station, AL, as well as her beloved miniature dachshund, Heidi, and many other family members.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff members of Ultra Care Hospice in Columbus for their loving care of Sherrell, especially Brian Norris, Jameia Willis, Maureen Silva, Bill Massey and Bert Blalock. Sherrell’s family would like to extend this deep gratitude to Karen D. Thomas, Steve Thomas’ sister who helped in caring for Sherrell.
