Sherry Weaver Wood, age 58, resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled at the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, GA on Thursday, August 8, 2019, 11 a.m. with Reverend Tommy Fountain officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.
Ms. Wood, daughter of the late Charlie Harold Weaver and Earline Fountain Weaver, was born March 5, 1961 in Columbus. Growing up in the Columbus area, she attended Woodland Christian Academy where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. As an adult, became a homemaker, loved the beach, and enjoyed spending quality time with her family, particularly her grandson, nieces, and nephews. She was a funny lady, always having a heart for helping others, a cheerful giver to many. Ms. Wood loved Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves, and large dogs. She enjoyed old movies, particular Western and Action movies. Her daughter remembers her as a loving, understanding, and protective mother.
Besides her parents, Ms. Wood was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carol Weaver. She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Marie Hux and her husband Dan of Pensacola, Florida; her grandson, John Brody Hux of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Gayle Head of Columbus, Georgia and Deborah Taylor of Seale, Alabama; one brother, Jimmy Weaver of Phenix City, Alabama; niece, CarrieAnn Morgan of Columbus, Georgia; nephews: Ricky Eastridge of Titusville, Florida, Jimbo Weaver of Phenix City, Alabama, Ken Weaver of Phenix City, Alabama and Josh Taylor of Seale, Alabama; and many other relatives and friends.
