Shery "Kay" Bodnar

Shery “Kay” Bodnar, age 57, resident of Columbus, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment to follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm.

Mrs. Bodnar, daughter of the late Kenneth Hughes and Joanne Barefoot Hughes, was born April 8, 1958 in Phenix City, Alabama.

She graduated from Carver High School, Class of 76’ and got her license as a LPN. Mrs. Bodnar retired after 18 years working for Pine Manor Nursing Home. She was also a member of 2nd Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bodnar was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth “Buddy” Earl Hughes; and mother-in-law, Nadine F. Bodnar. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Bodnar; brothers, Ray Hughes (Patti), John Hughes (Tammy); father-in-law, Michael J. Bodnar (Betty); brother-in-law, Michael J. Bodnar; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.
