SSG (Ret) Gil Lopez

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, with Reverend Wayne Anthony and Reverend Hank Austin officiating. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA.

Aside from his parents, Mr. Lopez is preceded in death by his brother, Luis Lopez, and his sister, Belen Lopez. Mr. Lopez is survived by his lovely wife of nearly 54 years, Margarita Nieves Lopez, daughter Maria Adams and husband Tony of Smiths Station, Ala., daughter Darhma Robinson and husband Mark of Charlotte, N.C., daughter Erika Strength and husband Chris of Phenix City, Ala., and his grandchildren, Andria Sarvey, Daniella Robinson, Jonathan Strength and Timothy Strength.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Asbury Methodist Church, 2312 Ellen Ave., Columbus, GA 31903.
