

A graveside funeral service will be conducted by her son, Chaplain (Colonel) David Reese at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reese was born June 17, 1919 in Early County, GA, daughter of the late Sam and Lilly P. Plymale Wright. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Cedar Springs, GA. Mrs. Reese devoted herself to the nurture and care of her family as she traveled to many places around the world with her Army husband, Benjamin C. Reese. She routinely volunteered in various community, school and chapel activities over the course of her life, utilizing her skills as a former teacher to positively influence children facing the challenges of military life. Among her many interests, Mrs. Reese was especially fond of gardening. Her nurturing spirit was evident in every task, whether raising flowers or raising her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her husband, Chief Warrant Officer Four (Ret.) Benjamin Charles Reese.
Survivors include her two sons, Benjamin S. Reese and his wife, Yvonne of Ft. Mitchell, Al, and Chaplain (Colonel) David Reese and his wife, Alice of Carlisle Barracks, PA; her three grandchildren, Bill Reese and his wife, Kelly of Atlanta, GA, Amy Dismukes and her husband, Derryl of Columbus, GA, and Caitlin Barnhard and her husband, Levi of Royston, GA, and 12 step great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who so desire to make a contribution to Columbus Hospice in Mrs. Reese's name.
