Virginia J. Williams

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. Entombment will follow in Chapel of The Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening, October 29, 2010 from 6:00 Pm until 8:00 Pm at the funeral home.

Mrs., Williams was born August, 16, 1941 in Lafayette, AL daughter of the late William Thomas and Lula Mae Lambert Johnson. She graduated from Jordan Vocational High School in 1959 and went to work for Civil Service at Ft. Benning, GA, and worked there faithfully for 36 years. Mrs. Williams received the National Business Women of the Year award in 1991 and was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry Lee Johnson, Troy Randall Johnson, Richard Lummus Johnson, and Tony Johnson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years Wiley D. Williams, Sr. of Midland, GA; three sons, Wiley D. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Columbus, GA, Kenneth Edward Williams of Harris County, GA, and Sammy Wayne Williams of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren, Lacey Williams, Samantha Williams, Savannah Williams. Jessica Lee Williams, and Kenneth Dwayne Williams; one great granddaughter, Shariah Jones; two sisters, Judy Williams, and Brenda Mckelder; one brother, William Johnson; three sisters in law, Jeanette Hudson, Maggie Ann Yancey, and Gloria Jean Humes and her husband, Gary; one brother in law, Glennis H. Williams; four nephews, Danny Williams, Jimmy Williams, Jerome Williams, and David Williams; numerous other family members and friends.
