Alexander City, Alabama- Willard Wayne Ivey, 81 of Alexander City, AL passed away Sunday October 13, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services with military honors and Masonic Rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday October 18, 2013 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga. with entombment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Reverend Thom Porter and Reverend Lenox Mallory will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ivey was born October 4, 1932 in Cullman, Al son of the late John Ivey and Irene Peppers Ivey and also preceded in death by his wife, Lieselotte Gabb Ivey. He was a retired U. S. Army Korean and Vietnam veteran with 20 years of faithful service and worked as a correctional officer and retired as Warden for the Muscogee County Correctional Institute. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #579 F&AM, the Ft. Benning Chapter # 73 RAM, Ft. Benning Council # 73, Royal and Select, St. Aldemar Commandery # 3 KT., Muscogee Conclave Red Cross of Constane, Chattahoochee York Rite College #166, Knight of the York Cross of Honor, 33nd degree Scottish Rite, Mason Valley of Columbus, Georgia, member of Ft. Benning Chapter # 278 OES, member of the National Sojourmers Ft. Benning Chapter #8 and was Valley Secretary for the Masons. He was a member of the Sunny Level United Methodist Church in Alexander City, Alabama.
Survivors include his son Wayne Ivey and daughter in law Ruth, a daughter, Erika Maloney, and son in law Mike, five grandchildren , Jeremiah Force, Michael Ivey, Amanda Ivey Jordan and her husband Dewayne, Mary Ivey Wix and her husband Robert and Todd Maloney, 6 great grandchildren, two sisters, Linda Harden and brother in law Jimmy, Agnes McElroy and brother in law Delton, his brother DeWayne Ivey.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital.
