William was a Certified Public Accountant and an educator who shared his knowledge at several universities and colleges. His career was marked by a significant opportunity to study Economics in Russia for a short period, reflecting his dedication to his field.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Andrews Luckie, and his daughter, Cynthia Atkins Luckie. William is survived by his nephews, Lee Woolf and Ron Shoemaker, and his niece, Donna Copeland. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Chuck Andrews (Susie) and Gilbert Andrews (Susan), sisters-in-law, Laura Andrews and Carol Flowers (John), as well as several other nieces and nephews.
A devoted fan of Alabama Football, William's love for the game was well-known among his family and friends. His legacy is one of kindness and calmness, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, located at 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia, in the St. Elmo room. The visitation is scheduled for November 22, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm.
