

Mrs. Krieg was born in Columbus, IN. on February 15, 1925 the daughter of the late Ben and Emma Schulz Wehmeier.
She married George Glenn Krieg at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clifty on April 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1957.
Mrs. Krieg was a 1943 graduate of Columbus High School.
She was the Bartholomew County Recorder from 1975-1982 and the Bartholomew County Assessor from 1983-1994. She was also the Deputy Clerk in the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office for 2 ½ years. Mrs. Krieg was a former secretary at Farmers Production Credit Association for 4 years, Bartholomew County Highway Office for 4 years and had worked part-time in other local offices.
Mrs. Krieg was a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party where she was a former vice chairperson of the Democratic Central Committee and was the first president and lifetime member of the Democratic Ladies League. She was a Democratic Precinct Committee Person and in 1989 she received the Jefferson Jackson Democrat of the Year Award.
She was the Indiana Recorder’s Association Vice President in 1981-1982 and was the Association of Indiana Assessors 2nd Vice President in 1992 and 1st Vice President in 1993.
She was appointed as the Senior Advisory Chairperson for Mayor Fred Armstrong.
Mrs. Krieg was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and she received the Woman of the Year in 1980 and 1996 from the Tipton Knoll Chapter.
She was also a member of the Farmer’s Union, Peace Fellowship and the Country Club.
Mrs. Krieg was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clifty where she held several church offices and was active in the Tri-W.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Krieg will be conducted at 11:30 AM Friday, March 08, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Chapel at Clifty with Pastor Doug Bauman officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, March 07, 2013 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. and from 10:30 AM until the time of service on Friday at the chapel.
Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery at Clifty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clifty, Mill Race Center or The Love Chapel.

Mrs. Krieg is survived by two sons, George (Debra) Krieg of Marshfield, WI. And Bill (Sharon) Krieg of Columbus, IN.; two daughters, Judy (Bob) Pitman of Columbus, IN. and Susan Krieg (Walt Wood) of Bloomington, IN.; ten grandchildren, Annah (Max) Kellogg-Krieg of Madison, WI., Alison Krieg of Rochester, MN., Elizabeth Krieg of Eau Claire, WI., Loren, Tim and Paul (Rebecca Beach) Krieg all of Columbus, IN., Emma (Andy) Harmon of Davenport, IA., Cassie (Fiancé, Josh Gonsior) Pitman of Columbus, IN. and Ben and Hannah Wood both of Bloomington, IN.; and a great grandson, Kayden Rex Krieg of Columbus, IN.
Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Krieg was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Arnholt and a granddaughter, Sara Krieg.
