Betty M. Land

Betty was born April 14, 1936 in Osgood, the daughter of Claude and Ester M. Sellers Mosier. Over her lifetime in Columbus, she had worked as an X-ray tech for Dr. Wickstrom and was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, pie baking, Euchre with her friends at the Elks and Knights of Columbus, traveling, NASCAR racing with her favorite driver Jeff Gordon and loved spending time with her family. She was a life member of the Elks.

She married James M. Land November 24, 1955 in Osgood. He preceded her in death May 5, 1996.

Survivors include her daughter, Dixie (Tom) Mellis, Columbus; sisters, Juanita Dilk and Carol Lee, all of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Stephanie J. Stearley, Plainfield, Kristen E. Mellis and Emily A. Mellis both of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Sydney Stearly of Plainfield. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Francis Lewis.

The funeral service for Betty will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday June 9, 2015 in Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with Jeff Parham. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials for Betty may directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
