Charles E. Stainbrook
14 February, 1938 – 12 April, 2018

Charles Edward Stainbrook, 80, entered into eternal life on April 12, 2018 at 8:08 a.m. at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mr. Stainbrook was born on February 14, 1938 in Columbus to the late Lula Palmer.
He met his wife Shirley on the “beep-beep” line and they were married on March 27, 1976. They continued on in love until her death on July 3, 2004.
Other than his wife, his grandchildren were the second love of his life. He cherished every moment with them and his great-grandchildren.
Charles worked for the Traffic Department of Columbus, Indiana for 32 and a half years where he eventually retired in 1984. He also volunteered for the fire department until 1984. He was baptized at First Assembly Church of God in 2012.
Mr. Stainbrook was an avid fisherman, he was a member of the Columbus Bowling League, a member of the FOP, and loved nothing more than getting down on the floor and playing with his grandbabies.
Survivors include his son, Harold (Pam) Crippen; his daughter, Sandra (Jimmy) Crippen-Gallo, both of Columbus; granddaughters, Medora (Steve) Ferree-Wilson, Shirley (Steve Rains) Stevenson; Cindy (Vennie) Smurf-Stevenson, and Lauren Crippen, all of Columbus; gransons, Marc Stevenson of Indianapolis, and James Crippen of Columbus. He is also surivived by 3 great granddaughters, Felicity, Martha, and Nickkia and 5 greatgrandsons, DJ, Elijah, Damian, Brandon, Tye, and Oliver.
Mr. Stainbrook was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and step-brother, and his wife, Shirley Stainbrook.
A funeral service for Charles will be held on Saturday, April 21,2018 at 1 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel. Friends may call 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials in Mr. Stainbrook’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
