Doris Irene Bogard

Doris Irene Bogard, 103, of Columbus died 8:10 a.m. Tuesday May 8, 2018 at Hickory Creek of Columbus. She was born in Washington, Indiana February 4, 1915 the daughter of Charles J. and Leona Callahan Copeland. She married Cecil C. Bogard October 24, 1930 in Lawrenceville, IL; he preceded her in death August 3, 1987. She was a homemaker; however during the war, 1942 ~1944 she worked for a military shirt maker sewing sleeves on uniform shirts. She was a former member of Veale Creek Baptist Church, Washington, IN; where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Guild. She is presently a member of Community Church of Columbus. She loved working with children and was a former Bible School Teacher. She is survived by sons, Jack (Barbara) Bogard of Scottsburg, Larry (Anna) Bogard of Columbus; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Mary Lillian Bogard and Betty Hawk; 2 brothers; 3 sisters. Funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with her son Larry Bogard officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time Monday at the Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the New Veale Creek Cemetery, Washington, Indiana.
