

She was born January 21, 1927, in Jefferson County, Indiana, the daughter of LeRoy and Juanita Spicer Poindexter. She married Jammie E. Phillips April 12, 1947, in Wirt, Indiana. He preceded her in death May 22, 1983. She then married Glenn Eugene Lackey April 4, 1985, in Columbus. He preceded her in death August 22, 2004.
Doris Jean was former owner of Standard Specialty Company and Phillips & Purcell Flower Shop. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Columbus and Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Indiana. A was a former Pink Lady at Columbus Regional Hospital and a former precinct committeewoman, and had been a member of Sexton Dance Club, Columbus Kitchen Band, Second Time Around Band, Greensburg Senior Band and Bartholomew County Senior Center. She loved music, dancing, playing drums and playing in bands.
She is survived by daughter, Yvonne G. (Larry L.) Smith of New Albany; son, Jeffery J. (Rose Ella) Phillips of Richmond, Kentucky; sister, Mildred Richard of Carencro, Louisiana; grandchildren, Jason Alan Humbel of Columbus and Michael C. (Jen) Fultz of New Orleans; great-grandchildren, Jaycob Alan Humbel of Phoenix, Arizona, and Flynn Bliss Fultz of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; son, Daryl Alan Phillips; daughter, Kim Paulette Sackman; sister, Frances Hall; and brother, Roy Lee Poindexter.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with son-in-law Larry L. Smith officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery, Dupont, Indiana.
