Doris Marie Ritz

Born in Columbus on November 6, 1920, Doris was the daughter of William Heiskell Sims and Ida Alice Boll Sims. She married Paul Ritz in 1941 in Nashville, Indiana. He preceded her in death in ‘69.

Doris was a ’39 graduate of Columbus High School, a member of Petersville United Methodist Church, a volunteer and member of the Senior Center, Seniors Acting Up and sang in the choir at the Senior Center and the Silver Tones Choir. Doris was also a member of the Garden Club, Book Buddy of Southside School, a Jefferson School mentor, the Bible Study Group, 700 Club, CBN, Leasa Broadcasting, National Active and Retired Federal Employees and enjoyed serving birthday dinners.

The funeral service for Doris will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, in Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. with the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

Memorials for Doris may be made to Petersville United Methodist Church or Our Hospice.

Doris is survived by her sister, Jean (Clarence) Fiesbeck of Columbus; her brother, Robert R. Sims Sr. of White Creek; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
