

Mrs. McAbee was born in Brownstown, IN. on August 10, 1935 the daughter of the late Harry G. and Eleanor Everroad Lucas.
She married Harold C. McAbee in Columbus, IN. on August 24, 1968 and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2003.
Mrs. McAbee earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Ball State University and she received her Master’s Degree from Indiana University.
She retired from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in 1994 where she was a Columbus North High School teacher since 1959. At the time of her retirement she was the Business Education Department Chairperson.
Mrs. McAbee was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Retirement Association and the Bartholomew County Retired Teachers Association.
She was a former Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer.
Mrs. McAbee was a member of the Covenant Methodist Church in Greer, SC and a former member of Westside Community Church and the Bible Study Fellowship in Columbus, IN.
She was a member of the Psi Iota Xi and the Alpha Sigma Tau Sororities and the Bartholomew County Senior Center.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. McAbee will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. with Pastor Dennis W. Aud officiating.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Entombment will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. McAbee is survived by two step-daughters, Linda M. Workman and Nancy Jo (Tom) Cook both of Greer, SC; a brother, David (Jane) Lucas of Brownstown, IN.; three step-grandchildren, Dr. Marc (Allison) Workman of Greer, SC, Ashley (Darren) Thomas of Sydney, Australia and Lindsay (Nathan) Acierno of Spartanburg, SC; six step-great grandchildren, Luke, Sam and Emma Workman all of Greer, SC and Chloe, Jackson and Alexa Thomas all of Sydney, Australia; a niece, Kimberly Lucas of Indianapolis, IN.; a nephew, Mark (Rachel) Lucas and a great nephew, Harrison Lucas all of Denver, CO.
