Mrs. Morris was born January 21, 1939 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Arnold and Esther (Kem) Thomas. She married Ron B. Morris June 28, 1958 at Centenary Methodist Church in Lebanon, IN. He preceded her in death January 30, 2019.
Faye graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956 and then attended John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, majoring in Commercial Art, later changing to Fine Art. Ron and Faye lived in Evansville until Ron was drafted into the Army. They then moved to Ft. Leonard, MO and Etain, France. While in France, Faye painted many pictures and traveled to Paris, Belgium and Germany.
Faye returned from France and moved to Cincinnati in preparation for Ron’s discharge from the Army and his schooling at the University of Cincinnati. They lived in Cincinnati for 12 years and then Lebanon, before moving to Columbus for Ron’s job at Cummins Engine Company. The family had lived in Columbus for 13 years before moving to Philadelphia, PA, with Ron’s new job at Rohm and Haas. Faye started entering her contemporary, fantasy artwork with poem-verses in shows such as the New Hope Art Show and Doylestown Arts Festival. Ron and Faye returned to Columbus in 2000 after he retired and Faye participated in the Farmer’s Market, showing and selling her original artwork in the summer months.
Although stricken with rheumatoid arthritis at 39 years of age and battling the disease most of her life, Faye managed to paint prolifically with a smile on her face and a big laugh ready at the drop of a hat. Faye had many friends who enjoyed her opinionated, in-your-face style. She loved to read autobiographies, watch football and basketball with her husband, and go on family vacations to Myrtle Beach.
Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Fred Thomas; and a daughter-in-law, Kewalin “Jokey” Morris.
Survivors include her sons, Ron Morris of Bangkok, Thailand, Scott (Teresa) Morris of Nashville, Jay (Beth) Morris of Trafalgar, and Dean (Lindsey) Morris of Greenwood; and grandchildren, Melanie Morris, Taryn Sims, Blaine Sims, Emily Morris, Will Morris, Casey Morris, Ethan Morris, Logan Morris, Maddox Morris and Jaxon Morris.
A graveside service for family will be held at a later date. Memorials in Faye’s name are suggested to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
