Francis Peter “Frank” Olivera III, of North Vernon, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Mr. Olivera retired in 2004 from Cummins Engine Co. after 34 years of service.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister; a youth minister at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon; Columbus OCU; Hoosier Lighthousing Club; North Vernon Players Theatrical Society and was a tractor driver for the Columbus North Sound of Music Pit Bulls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the youth ministry at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Olivera was born May 13, 1947, in Redwood City, Calif., the son of Francis Peter Olivera Jr. and Frances Arlene Seymour Olivera. He married Edith Santana on Aug. 18, 1990, in Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Francis Peter (Laura) Olivera of Bloomington, Anthony M. (Jena) Olivera of North Vernon and Michael (Brooke) Hess of Plainfield; a daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Hess-Culver of Greenwood; his mother, of Redwood City; grandchildren, Adam Lykens and Payton Olivera, both of North Vernon, and a sister, Pam (Ronnie) Clemons of Redwood City.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Rosalie Reshatoff.
