Gretchen Ann Kreps

Gretchen Ann Kreps, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lebanon, IN, on March 26, 1929, the daughter of Raymond C. and Mary Edythe (Crouch) Moffitt.
Gretchen was a graduate of Shortridge High School in 1946, Indianapolis, IN. She also attended Butler University for one year, where she pledged Delta Gamma Sorority.
Gretchen married Franklin A. Kreps on November 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2016. Gretchen and Frank moved to Columbus, IN, to raise their two sons. Gretchen retired after 20 years from the Bartholomew County Health Department as a Registrar. Following retirement, Gretchen worked for Hallmark for two years. She was also a former greeter for Myers-Reed and Hathaway-Myers Chapels.
She was a member of North Christian Church where she served with the Children’s Ministry, Deacon, and various other committees. Gretchen was also a member of North Park Eastern Star in Indianapolis, Past Honor Queen of Jobs Daughters in Indianapolis, Charter member of the Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Psi, Indianapolis and Columbus, IN. She was also Past National Editor of Phi Beta Psi, Former Secretary for Indiana Lumberman’s Insurance Co., Indianapolis, and former sales clerk for H.P. Wasson. Gretchen was a member and volunteer of the Columbus Senior Center.
Gretchen is survived by her two sons, Bart M. Kreps and wife, Jeri Lynn of Columbus, and Frank A. Kreps and wife, Bettye Dunham of Elizabeth; granddaughters, Katina Tooley and husband, Ben, Kaitlin Downs and husband, Matthew, and Kori Beth Babb all of Columbus, and Kelsey Kreps of Indianapolis; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Lake Kaisher, Kaden Tooley, Paige, Payton and Gretchen Babb, and Maddox Downs, all of Columbus.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Chaplain Annette Barnes officiating. Entombment will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Visitation will also be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorials in Gretchen’s name are suggested to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
