

Mrs. Thompson was born in Indianapolis, IN. on August 31, 1920 the daughter of the late Clyde and Rebecca “Betty” Carr Smith.
She married Robert F. Thompson in Evansville, IN. on May 11, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1990.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and had also worked at Reeves Pulley Company in Columbus, IN.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, IN. She volunteered at the Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her friends and family.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Thompson will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Peggy Casteel officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the Daugherty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of South Central Indiana or to the Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Victor (Diane) Thompson of Palatine, IL.; a brother, Clyde (Eula) Smith, Jr. of Tell City, IN.; a sister, Shirley (Ralph) Fields of Arcadia, FL.; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Ellen Thompson both of Palatine, IL.
Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by two infant daughters; a sister, Mary Evelyn McDaniel and two brothers, James and Jerry Smith.
