John Mark Hodson, 67, passed away Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at Columbus Regional Hospital. John was born August 23, 1956 in Johnson County, Indiana. He was the son of Billy Wayne and Fena Jo Crabtree Hodson.
He graduated from Columbus East High School in 1975 and attended Vincennes University. John married Dana Ruth Smith on April 3, 1992 in Columbus, Indiana. He worked for Milestone LP for 53 years and retired in 2022 as a Senior Project Manager.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, teaching people groundwork, gardening, mushroom hunting, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Dana Hodson; his daughters, Jessica (Brandon) Purdy, Chelsea (Zach) Layman, and Shelby (Brennan) Dunville; his grandchildren, Calyx Purdy, Taylor Jarboe, Carmyn Purdy, Liam Dunville, Lochlan Dunville, and Ledger Dunville; and his siblings, Pam, Susie, Diane, Kelly, and Maryka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Elsie Luksis; and his step-son, Jeremiah Jarboe.
John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he loved his faithful companion, Brownie. In keeping with John’s wishes, no services will be held. Instead, the family asks that you celebrate his life and honor him in a way that is special to you.
