

Born in Columbus, Joy was the daughter of James and Louise Christian Richards. She had owned and operated Joy’s Beauty Salon for 45 years until retirement in 2005. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and time with her family.
Joy graduated from Columbus High School in 1958 and was a member of the National Hairdresser’s Association. She attended Faith Victory Church. She married Ronald Lee Jacobs Dec. 17, 1977, in Columbus. He preceded her in death in December 1984.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel with the Pastor Mark Owings officiating and calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Joy is survived by her mother, Louise Richards Greenlee of Columbus; a daughter, Desiree (Brent) Watson of Columbus; a sister, Vicki (Bob) Hancher of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers, Darrell (Judy) Richards and Jim (Pat) Richards, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Kylah Kostelecky of St. Petersburg, Florida, MaKayla and MaKenzi Galliher of Columbus; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Richards, in April 1970; her husband, Ronald Lee Jacobs; and her stepfather, Paul Ray “Pete” Greenlee in July of 2007.
