Joyce Ann Redmon

Joyce Ann Redmon, 68, of Columbus, began her walk with the Lord on January 19, 2021. She was born April 2, 1952, the first-born of four children of John and Joan (Meredith) Redmon. They preceded her in death. As a small town girl of Hartsville, IN, her days during the tough times were spent playing in the creek and making mud pies. After graduating from Columbus North High School in 1970, she completed nursing school and forcefully applied herself to achieve her Master’s degree. Joyce was formerly employed by Ivy Tech, instructing many students in nursing. She also taught for several years at Indianapolis colleges. Joyce loved being a small town girl that made a big difference in this world by saving lives and enjoying hers. She will be deeply missed. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind her son, Timothy (Ranae) Harney; grandchildren, Grayson (Pedro) Mendoz, Ashton (Jeff) White and Courtney (Adam) Atwood; great-grandsons, Riko, Jackson, Jayse, Jasper and Henry; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and touched so dearly. She is also survived by her brothers, John (Linda) Redmon and Michael Redmon. In Joyce’s eyes, they could do no wrong and loved them whole heartedly. She also leaves her honored sister, Margaret Walls, whom she loved to talk to non-stop for hours, argue, fuss with and apologize to afterwards. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Fr. Chris Wadelton officiating. Friends are invited to gather from 9:30 until service time. Burial of her urn will be at a later date at Garland Brook Cemetery. In keeping with CDC and Indiana guidelines, social distancing must be followed and masks are required. You may also be asked to wait outside due to the social distanced capacity of the funeral home. Memorials in Joyce’s name are suggested to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
