LaVon C. Cooper Forgey

Mrs. Forgey was born March 15, 1922 in Newbern, IN., the daughter of Henry and Stella Jenkins Cooper.

She married Vernon A. “Hank” Forgey May 29, 1946 in Columbus, IN. and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1994.

Mrs. Forgey was a former employee of Arvin Industries in Columbus, IN. where she worked from 1940-1950. She worked at Four Seasons Retirement Home in Columbus, IN. from 1969-1984.

She was a 55 year member of Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus, IN. where she joined in 1957.

She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends. Mrs. Forgey enjoyed music, playing the piano and playing table tennis.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Forgey will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Myers-Reed Chapel at 3729-25th St., Columbus, IN. 47203 with Rev. Ron Robinson and Rev. Tom Strong officiating.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday and from 9:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp in Westport, IN.

Mrs. Forgey is survived by a son, Michael C. (Loretta) Forgey of New Palestine, IN.; three grandchildren, Sarah (Neil) Forgey Dunaway of Indianapolis, IN. and Aaron and Megan Forgey both of New Palestine, IN.; two sisters, Sylvia (James) Nicholson of Atlanta, GA. And Cletis Thompson of Jonesboro, GA.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Cooper of Westport, IN. and Anna Mae Forgey of Brownstown, IN.; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband of 48 years, Mrs. Forgey was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rita JaNeinne Forgey on September 07, 1970 and two brothers and four sisters.
