Mary Jean Durham

Mary “Jean” Swartz Durham, 70 of Taylorsville died Wednesday 1-15-2014 at 1:05 a. m. in I. U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born in Columbus on July 15, 1943. She was the daughter of George B Swartz and Vola E Rambo Swartz. She married Kenneth K Durham in 1976, and he survives. She is also survived by daughters, Melinda Settle (Paula), Diana Rodgers, and Debra Stinson (Emmett). Sisters; Frances Simms and Ada Slinker. She has 6 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Allen Durham.

She was a former medical transcriptionist, working out of her home, after retiring from Columbus Regional Hospital and Professional Claims Bureau.

She enjoyed cross stitch, crochet, and knitting. She was an avid hummingbird watcher and loved spending time with her loyal companion, Buddy.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a. m. in Myers-Reed Chapel with Reverend Edward Wooddell officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be in the funeral home for 4-8:00 p. m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday.
