Mary Sims Kent

She was born in Chicago, November 19, 1928, the daughter of William and Theresa Zens Sims. She married John Saxton Kent III on April 7, 1951 in Philadelphia, Penn., and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2011.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Treasure Hunter’s Antique Club, Bartholomew County Historical Society and was active in many local charities.

Mary loved to travel and tell stories; she especially loved family gatherings.

The family would like to thank all of Mary and Jack’s longtime friends and neighbors for their loving support and friendship throughout the years.

She is survived by her children, John S. Kent IV of Carmel, Father James D. Kent of Mount St. Francis, Julia (Stephen) Johnson of Hampton, N.H., William S. Kent of Columbus, Richard C. (Suzanne) Kent of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert A. (Bev) Kent of Brownsburg; and grandchildren, Jack, Patrick, Brian, Alyssa, Peter, Morena, Caroline, Maggie, Greg, Ross, Allison and Grant.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father James D. Kent, OFM Conv. officiating.

Calling will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow the Mass and private inurnment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Arrangements were made by Myers-Reed Chapel.
