

He was born October 6, 1928, in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, the son of John H. and Vera M. Watkins Nichols. He met and married Joan Margaret Anne Hallesay of High Wycombe, England, while stationed in England during World War II.
Paschel was a veteran of the United States Air Force, 8th Air Force, 7th Division. Among other campaigns, he was involved in the Berlin Air Lift at the end of WWII which provided communication, food, medical supplies and coal to West Berlin as all exit and entry points were blocked. He was a liaison between the British GPO and the U.S. SAC Headquarters upon the reactivation of the High Wycombe Communications Center. He worked for Bosch-Arma Corporation as a civilian on the inertial guidance system used on the I.C.B.M.
He worked at CP Electronics and retired from Arvin Automotive Industries after 25 years of service. He was a member of Lakeview Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Nichols; son, Gary H. Nichols of Denver, Colorado; a daughter, Vera (John) Wilderman of Columbus; grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Wilderman of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Patrick (Samantha) Wilderman of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Madilynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Deltha McNutt, Nina Harrellson and Melva Nichols.
Funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with Collin Churchill officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until service time. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
