

Phyllis Larrison passed on August 12, 2017 and went to be with her parents and two of her children. She was born Phyllis June Fulp to Norton Perry Fulp and Mildred Romine Fulp on March 24, 1936 in Columbus, Indiana and was raised there with her sister Cynthia Diana. The family attended the First Baptist Church in Columbus. Phyllis started her work life as a secretary at The Reeves Company in Columbus where she met her future husband. She also attended Franklin College as an art history major.
Phyllis married Omer Ray Larrison in October 1956 and they had five children between 1958 and 1968. Phyllis worked in the home for several years while the children were young. She worked in a variety of industries during her work life and ultimately retired from the accounting department of Inland Container Corporation at age 62.
Phyllis was caregiver to her parents in the early 1990’s as they aged and experienced end of life illness before they both passed, her mother in March 1994 and her father on August 11, 1994. In more recent years, Phyllis helped a number of friends who had health and mobility issues.
She is survived by her younger sister, Cynthia Diana (Curt) McCreary, of Naples, Florida and Carmel, Indiana; her daughters, Michele (Gene) Gardner of Anderson, Indiana, Roxanne Larrison of Indianapolis, and Lisa Larrison Wagenfuehr of Baltimore; grandchildren, Melissa (Shane) Davis of Pendleton, Ashley Nicole Gardner of Indianapolis, Amber (Jason) Jackson of Baltimore, Christopher Ray Larrison of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Jacob Norton Larrison of Columbus; great grandchildren, Ryan Michael Davis of Pendleton, Liam Scott Davis of Pendleton, and Owen Matthew Jackson of Baltimore; nieces, Sherri Lyn Thompson, Tamara Diane (Jim) Tucker, Robin Louise (Chris) Quagliesi, Candyce June (Trey) Luken, and Debbi Ann (Ryan) Kelly; nephew, Curtis J. McCreary; great nieces and nephews, Brandy Browning, Cody Thompson, Morgan Tucker, Madison Tucker, Jacob Luken, Emma Luken, Averie Luken, Lucas McCreary, Isabella McCreary, and Jackson Kelly; first cousins Robert Fulp (Barbara) of Columbus, Karen Weesner of Taylorsville, Jolinda Kinney of Columbus, Keith Fulp of Georgia, Kenny Bryant (Linda) of Columbus; former daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Jeremy) Lunsford of Columbus: many other cousins, great great nieces and nephews, other friends and relatives too many to name; and several fur grandkids and fur great grandkids. She also held a special place in her heart for her good friend Wilbur Shortridge of Indianapolis.
Phyllis lost one child as an infant, Cathleen Nicole, to leukemia at age 3 ½, and lost another child as an adult, Scott Norton Larrison to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at age 34. She was also predeceased by her infant sister Mary Carol Fulp; her parents, Norton Perry Fulp and Mildred Romine Fulp; uncle, Robert Fulp (Christine); aunts, Nellie Haislup (Gerald), Florence Stapp (John), and Helen Gary (Ed); former husband Omer Larrison; and a number of other close relatives and friends.
Phyllis was very sociable. She loved people and could strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone whether they wanted to chat or not. She had a talent for numbers and financial matters and she loved to travel. In later years she also attended water aerobics classes with friends. During her life she volunteered for the Little Red Door. Phyllis taught classes at Marian College with other parents of students with dyslexia while her son, Scott, attended class taught by another parent. She was also a supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Lung Association.
We are grateful she is now at peace.
A remembrance with family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at the Hathaway-Myers Chapel, 1022 Pearl Street, in Columbus, Indiana. A private burial for family will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
