

He was born in Hollywood, California, Oct. 5, 1931, the son of Richard H. and Sally E. Maguire Cain.
Mr. Cain retired from Ivy Tech Community College in 1997 as Director of Visual Communications. In 1988 he was awarded the Glenn Sample Award for Indiana Teacher of the Year. He was a graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Fine Arts. He held dual memberships in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus and St. Anne’s Catholic Church in North Vernon. He was a member of AtterburyBakalar Air Museum, Chapter No.927 EAA (Experimental Aircraft Assoc.) and Young Eagles Program He liked model airplanes, as well as, radio controlled planes and enjoyed painting in both oil and water. He was a very active golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Margot D. Cain of Grammer. They were married at Camp Gordon, California June 7, 1955.
Also surviving are his children, Richard W. Cain Jr. of New Florence, Pennsylvania, S. Thomas Cain of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sarah Yaworsky of Rochester, New York, Jeffrey M. Cain of Tampa, Florida, Laura C. Robinson of DePere, Wisconsin, Stephen C. Cain of Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth A. Hoff of Marietta, Georgia; 22 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church with a rosary at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anne’s Cemetery in North Vernon.
