

Adolph William “Bill” Maier, age 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the age of 84. He was the son of the late William C. and Beulah Maier. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth (Stewart) Maier; son, Stewart Alan Maier and his girlfriend, Sharon Secrest and her daughter and granddaughter, Jennifer and Lena Secrest. Bill graduated from West High School and attended The Ohio State University. He began his career with the city of Columbus Engineering Division for over 12 years. He later joined the firm of Evans, Mechwart, Hambleton and Tilton, Inc. Engineers and Land Surveying, where he worked for over 32 years; ultimately retiring as President of the company. Bill was a member of the O.S.U. Faculty Club, Engineers Club of Columbus, County, State and National Society of Professional Engineers. He was a 32 degree Master Mason and a member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple for over 50 years. His past associations include The Rickenbacker Port Authority where he served as Vice-Chair, Franklin County Community Improvement Corporation, State of Ohio Transportation Review Advisory Council, Columbus and Ohio Chapter of Consulting Engineers, Committee of 100 from O.S.U. College of Engineering, Gahanna Rotary, Columbus Garden Railway Society, founding member of New Albany Country Club, Columbus Country Club, Capital Club and the Athletic Club of Columbus. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband and father and an effective community leader. Bill’s sense of humor, positive attitude and good works in this life, will never be forgotten. Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High Street (1/2 mile South of I270), where a funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, September 30, 2011; Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
