Alice Young

Alice Virginia Young, 83 of Upper Arlington, went to heaven on April 6, after a long illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Young; son, David Young, and parents, Ruth and Elmer Bene. Alice grew up in Grandview and graduated from Grandview High School in 1949. She graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1952. She later attended Johns Hopkins for surgical nurse training, and was employed by Grant hospital. She married John D. Young in 1955 and had 3 children. Alice was a devoted Catholic and faithful parishioner. Her favorite thing in life was being a mother, grandmother, and homemaker, especially enjoying her grandchildren. She was a very generous person, always willing to give to those who needed help, both family and charity. Alice is survived by daughters, Kathy Roush, Mary (Jeff) Gossman; granddaughters, Molly, Nancy, and Kathryn; 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015, where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 13 2015. Father, Joshua Wagner officiating and burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Alice's favorite charities were Natl. Fed. Of Blind, United Spinal, and HSUS.
