Andrew Austin

Andrew Austin, Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 16, 2009. He was born August 16, 1921 in New River, VA to the late Theresa and Andrew Austin, Sr. He was a Mason with the St. Mark’s Lodge No. 7, Prince Hall F & AM. He was a Navy veteran having served during WWII in the Philippines. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Preceded in death by, brother, Wilbur James Austin; son-in-law, Robert Daniels. He is survived by wife of 62 years, Lannie Marian (Casey) Austin; children, Myra Anderson, Brenda Daniels, Andrew “James” Austin III, Dennis Austin, Cathy (Rahd) Kellum, and Linda (Paul) Washington; sister, Cheryl (Ricky) White; 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff of Manor At Whitehall for your loving care over the past several months. Family will receive friends 12-1 pm Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 858 E. Third Ave. Columbus, OH 43201, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to J. H. Ross, Sr. Family Life and Community Center, 858 E. Third Ave. Columbus, OH 43201.
