

Ann Calhoun (Newcomer) Blackwell, 77, passed away on 01/08/2016 in Wesley Glen Retirement Community. She was born on October 25, 1938 in Independence, Kansas to John and Elizabeth Newcomer. Ann enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in Chillicothe and Marcelene Missouri. She graduated with a B.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State College and received her MA from University of Missouri. She taught in Columbia, Missouri, Lake Forest, Illinois and Upper Arlington, Ohio. Ann moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1965. Her passions were hosting family and friends and reading her Bible. After joining Xenos Christian Fellowship she became a dedicated teacher of the Old Testament, generously sharing her home and wisdom with hundreds of students over the course of over 30 years. Ann will be remembered fondly sitting on her sofa with a cup of coffee in one hand and her Bible in the other. She also enjoyed traveling to Israel and visits with her grandchildren. Ann is survived by her children, Christian (Frances) Blackwell and Becca Blackwell, her 3 grandchildren, Josie, Lindy, and Jude Blackwell, and her sister, Jody (Jim) Van Cooney. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 8 from 5-7pm at Xenos Christian Fellowship at 1340 Community Park Dr. Columbus OH 43229.
