Ann M. Komula, age 78, left this life on February 13, 2025 after a brief illness. Ann was born on January 24th, 1947 in Harrington, Maine to the late William and Wilma (Garnett) Allred. After losing her parents at a young age, Ann and her three siblings were raised by their grandmother, Ethel Garnett, in Conneaut, Ohio. While she was in high school, Ann started attending the New Apostolic Church through the invitation of a friend after helping her study for confirmation class. It was in the church youth group that she met her late husband, Renne Komula, and in 1968 they got married and were subsequently asked by the Church to move to Dunkirk, New York in order to establish a congregation there. It was in Dunkirk that their two children were born, Renne Jr. and Lisa, and in 1977 the family was again entrusted with establishing a congregation in a different city, this time in Columbus, Ohio. In total, Ann supported Renne in ministry for over 30 years until his retirement in 2008. But their impact in the congregation did not stop then for even until her death, Ann was regarded as a treasured member of her small group, a prayer warrior for her family as well as for the entire congregation, and an example of someone with an unwavering faith in God. Even at the end of her life, when asked for final words of wisdom, Ann replied with, “Keep the faith!”
In addition to supporting her husband in ministry and her family as a homemaker, Ann also supported her family by working outside the home cleaning houses and later as a clerical worker at Careworks, where she made several dear friends and helped many people with her genuine kindness and her commitment to a job well done. No matter where she was, Ann gave 100% effort and meticulous attention to whatever she was doing, and serving others gave her the most joy. Even in her family, she was known as the one to be first up from the table to start doing the dishes, no matter who was the host. She also loved to serve her family and friends by baking them treats and preparing meals for them, even serving her lawn care team water and snacks when they would come to mow.
Ann treasured time with her family, especially trips to the beach and to Disney World, and traveling with her husband. She is survived by her children Renne (Dena) Komula and Lisa (Timothy) Speidel, and grandchildren Ashley (Kieran) Weller, Timothy (Amanda) Speidel, and Tyler (Alli) Speidel and Noah and Luke Komula and great-grandchildren Cohen Ortiz, Aleksi and Kiara Weller, and Wyatt and Finnleigh Speidel. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Amy Komula, Marlene Komula, Georgia Allred, Robin Allred and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Saturday, March 1st from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 23 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43214. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with music beginning at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to re Charitable Ministry in memory of Ann Komula at https://www.wesharegiving.org/app/giving/WeShare-3209?tab=home
