Arthur Edward Davis, age 60, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. He was born on Oct. 9, 1949 to Henry and Ruth Ann Davis, and he was a graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design. Arthur worked for many years as a technical illustrator, using his skills of drafting and art to create designs for GE, Grumman Flexible, Sikorsky Aircraft, and Rockwell International. He was also gifted in oil painting, but his greatest gift was touching the lives of at-risk children in the Columbus Schools system. Through art and coaching chess, Arthur spent time truly listening to kids who had been disregarded and showed them genuine concern and patience. He was always giving of himself, and it made him happy to make others happy. He was very family-oriented, and he loved to teach his children and grandchildren art and fishing. He also enjoyed all kinds of music. Arthur is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Davis; children, Antoinette (Jeff) Hixenbaugh, and Angela (Matthew) Roberts; grandchildren, Audrey, Mason, and Aiden Roberts; and siblings, Judy, Gloria, Charlotte Osborn, and Charles Davis. Family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Contributions in Arthur’s name can be made to the American Lung Association, 2701 N.
