I met Barbara many years ago, through a telephone conversation, she said I have to ask you something first I said okay (she said to me, do you have a problem with me being black? and I responded, do you have a problem with me being white?) we both said no and started laughing so hard we couldn't stop after that we knew we had to meet in person, from the first time we met our friendship was instant and we became great friends. She always made me laugh as I listened to her stories of fishing, her kids, and anything that happened to her that week at the flea market or wherever else she had journeyed. I could be having a bad day and her spirits and stories would pick me up and give me the strength I needed. She was full of wisdom and advice so I always listened closely. I know God put her in my life for that reason. I helped her put together her many projects in her apartment. We worked on her plants, we put together her leopard chairs, we hauled her recliner to her house, we moved televisions around, displayed family photos, but most of all we laughed. She shared with me her own music on cds that she herself sang, she had a beautiful voice. We would sit outside on the bench and talk for hours during the summer months, she was truly the Grandmother I never had. She had such a giving heart. We talked about her illness and discussed God and her dying. She was not afraid, she was ready. I know that shes in Heaven singing praise now and I know that God must have needed some laughter to take that joy from us and place it with him. I will always Love and Miss Barbara and I know now that she is in no pain and she is free and happy.

Ms. Barb was like a mother to me.  I loved to visit with her and listen to her tell stories.  She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.  A truly kind and gentle soul who was very private and generous to those who were in need.  I will miss her very much!

I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara A few years back. She was a very nice lady...

I met, Ms. Chapman, a few years ago. She was such a great person to talk too and get advice from. My family and I, lived across the street from her a couple years ago. We would talk for hour on the bench outside, sometimes until after midnight :) She always treated my children and myself, like family. We will surely miss her. She was such an AMAZING lady!
