

Bernardine (Bernie) Fox, age 94, of Gahanna passed away on March 10, 2021 at her home surrounded by her children. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Catherine (Butcher) and Alexander Petroski and grew up in Scranton, PA. She moved to Columbus at the age of 21 and always said that it was the best decision of her life. Bernie was the secretary at St. Philip the Apostle School - a job she dearly loved - for 29 years, retiring at the age of 74. After retirement, she (and Tom) helped with the St. Matthew Charitable Works Ministry. Bernie also volunteered at St. Matthew School in the library and as a "Friend Across Time" buddy. Being with the ladies of the Knitting and Crocheting ministry was dear to her. In addition, she was a 3000+ hour volunteer at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Bernie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas; infant granddaughters Angela and Ann Marie Igel; sisters Dolores Petroski and Perpetua Poveromo, and brothers Alexander and Carl. She is survived by her children, Dolores (John) Igel, Dennis (Debra) Fox, and Eileen Quinn; grandchildren, Daniel (Angie), Brian (fiancé Maggie), and Melanie Igel, Hannah and Bridget Fox, Amanda (Lynnsey) and Elizabeth Quinn, and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Gahanna from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Masks are mandatory inside the building. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd. Gahanna. Internment at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Charitable Works, 807 Havens Corners Rd. Gahanna, OH, 43230.
