Carol Lantz Barbee (class of 1954) knew Beverly from having worked with her at Grant Hospital and from her experiences as an active member of the School of Nursing Alumni Assoc. She was a good and faithful friend. Jim had also met her on numerous occasions. We both extend our warmest condolences to the family. We will be praying for you during this time of grief. Grand Vase - The Basalt was purchased for the family of Beverly Lu Vanscoy Ruff.

As a GHSON graduate of 1967 I can remember meeting Beverly on the unit/nurses station as a student nurse. A few years later as I alumni luncheons, Beverly was present and introduced as the secretary and newsletter editor...a time consuming responsibility! Just two years ago I volunteered to serve the alumni as V.P. and to coordinate the annual luncheon. As a result, it has been my pleasure to communicate with Beverly to share information about the luncheon.
I was so thankful and very impressed with the memorabilia that she and Stan have collected, prepared for effective display and shared with the luncheon attendees. Our history in pictures, post cards (!) and yearbooks. 
Beverly is certainly one to be praised as one of the "great Grant grads."

Stan & Family:

Bev was a wonderful lady, and many of us who worked with her on Columbus Council of PTA's have such good memories of happy times that we shared together.  She was also a person who was a great inspiration to others, and she was very much admired.  Mary Jo and I feel blessed to have known her, and to have had such a kind and caring friend.
 
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.

There is absolutely no one who compares to Beverly Ruff. She has held the Grant Hospital School of Nursing Alumni together for over 30 years. She did the newsletter but also offered historical information and kept everyone up to date on their classmates. 
She was the most compassionate, caring, organized member of the alumni and words could never express how much we will miss her. Our prayers and love go to Stan and Karl. Their lives will never be the same and neither will our Alumni Association.

MEM.ORIOES FROM LILLIAN CROFT ROTTER

We met in 1958= when we both came to Columbus for  entrance exams  to
Grant Hospital School pf Nursing.  We were assigned to be roommates for the event.
At the  close, when we both had been accepted as students, we chose to
roommates- and continued as such for the next 3 years.  We never had an 
argument. Bev was always kind and gracious. One  of our enjoyments was to go downtown and walk through the air curtain at Lazarous dept. store.  We  had purchased a gold fish- which made  noise at night and  Bev would put it into the closet..
We  studied together...and  when we heard the mouse mother coming down the hall,
we'd go into the closet. (There was   a curfew time to have lights out).  The house mother would open the door and say, "Girls, the air is better out here."

We  graduated in August of 1961 and  soon passed the state board and w ere then R.N .'s  I was  married in September and  I was to be Bev's matron  of honor for her wedding in November. But then the accident happened.. and a lot was changed
In 1968, a spina bifida son was born to me and Willie Over the  years, she was a big help coping with the wheelchair. And as of late- Bev and our son were  communicating on face book

Her death leaves a big void in our lives, too. But her faith continues to inspire 
us.

Angel Memorial was purchased for the family of Beverly Lu Vanscoy Ruff.

I would like to extend my most sincere sympathy to Stan and his family family on Bev's untimely passing. You and Bev were among those that formed the heart and soul of the Professional Car Society and you always strove to make it a better organization. I fondly remember Bev, her kindness and the warmth she radiated. She will be sorely missed. My prayers are with Bev, you and your family. God bless you all.  -  Tom McPherson

Although I haven't seen them for several years, Stan & Bev were good friends when we did get together. I always enjoyed catching up with them, chatting with Bev. I'm very sorry to have lost her, my condolences to her entire family.
