Somehow you seemed to know
That you would decide your life
That you would follow a course of your own
Nothing unplanned and yet a life alone.
The youngest son of Arthur "Papa" and Ethel Ireland, younger brother to Garth and Eric.
Working as an Industrial Engineer for many manufacturers, working long and hard to receive his two degrees at The Ohio State University.
A member of the Eastmoor High School choir, singing with friends who knew Brian's talent. His passion for music started young with lessons at Capital University and playing Papa's violin - he learned and loved.
He was introduced to motorcycles as a young man. This passion continued to the end. Racing and building custom racing motorcycles and perfecting them until he and the machine performed as champions. He collected musical instruments and motorcycles with an eye for the rare value that others were blind to.
Brian's devotion to his parents as they aged was touching and strong. When Papa was failing, Brian would provide a concert of old country music favorites on his guitar and violin that would ignite warm memories of past times and people. After Papa passed and Ethel was alone, Brian stayed beside her providing safety and companionship for her for years, often neglecting his own life so his dearest mother would not worry or want for anything.
As a youngster, Brian's life was so happy and joyous. Playing and adventuring on the Westlake farm in Jackson, Ohio with cousins Lorraine, Nancy, George, and Jane Bear. Visiting the Pennsylvania cousins Joan, Jude, Janice, and Wayne and touring Gettysburg with Uncle Wendel as the guide.
Dearest brother, we hope your life was joyous and fulfilling. You were so loved. Your family will miss you and forever be grateful for your warmth and kindness.
A visitation for Brian will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Schoedinger East, 5360 E Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232.
