Carl Anthony Klein

Carl A. Klein, 65 of Grandview Heights departed this mortal coil July 21, 2012. He leaves behind his beloved wife Ciel, children: Katrina (Anthony) Jorge, Heather (Robert) Chandler, Benjamin Gavin; grandchildren Marc, Noah, Carmen Ohio Jorge; Alexxandra Campbell, Jeremiah, Evan, Alyssa Chandler; siblings Al (Susie) Klein, Frank (Lisa) Klein, Mary (Jay) Killingbeck, nieces Miriam, Molly, Emily Klein, nephew Jack Klein. Carl married into the Brophy clan: Susan (Roger) Herndon, Dow (Debbie) Brophy, Linnet (Mark) Steinman, J. Jon (Lynne) Brophy, 3 nieces, 6 nephews, numerous cousins and extended family. Carl retired from public service with the City of Columbus; he staffed the Mayor’s Economic Development Council, and was lead editor on the Columbus Economic Review and the Columbus Growth Statement. Valedictorian honors from Chaminade High School in Dayton, Ohio belonged to Carl in 1965; he received a BA in Economics and History, an MA in Speech Communication, and Rhetoric and American Public Address (ABD). During his graduate years he coached and judged debate teams throughout the U.S., and was Director of Forensics at Capital University. Carl had a lively, dry sense of humor and enjoyed discussions on varied topics. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 1-3pm, with a memorial service at 3pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
